The Modernised API is built on an active-active API Gateway setup, designed to minimise downtime during failovers. In most cases, no manual DNS changes are needed, unless your infrastructure has specific configurations that require it.

The underlying Real-time Retail Payments Platform (RPP) continues to follow its existing DR model. This means that any downtime due to RPP failover will also affect API-based services until recovery is complete.

Participants are required to:

• Support DR scenarios in line with RPP guidelines

• Maintain their own DR capabilities, including manual switchover to backup systems or DR environments, based on internal procedures
